Should Ford have not built the GT40 because that's not "what they do"? Should Toyota have not built the GT 2000? There is nothing to say anyone should or should not build any given kind of car. And the more companies willing to build these kinds of cars the better for everyone. Not only does keep the market fresh with new ideas and interesting concepts but it represents an investment in the science of speed, something that ultimately benefits us all.
I don't think the LF-A is the best looking car ever but I think it's great that Toyota is willing to throw that kind of time and money at what amounts to a research and design exercise. The fact that it doesn't make a certain amount of torque (which if you have ever driven a NSX you know that doesn't mean it's not seriously quick) or that it's dollar to performance value is no where near a Skyline or Corvette doesn't negate that it is really fuckin fast and that's always awesome.
